Abstract
While André Hellé's beautiful drawings illustrating Debussy's score published by Durand in 1913 are famous, he remains little known. This multifaceted artist, who in addition to his paintings and drawings created toys for children and was also a decorator, collaborated not only with Debussy but with other composers as well. The three documents published in this paper also shed light on the circumstances of his meeting with Debussy and the story of the ballet ; they are preceded by an introduction surveying the artist's career and the history of the first performances of La Boîte à joujoux, which took place only after the composer's death.
